Description (appended drawing): the long tubular piston 6 includes, at its base, a forcing valve 12; the piston 6 runs in a stuffing box 1; when the piston 6 rises the valve 12 is closed; water is forced towards the surface; when 6 is lowered, the valve 12 opens; the intake valve 13 closes; 6 is lowered without variation in the volume contained in the pump. The whole, of great length, has a diameter less than 102 mm and can be housed in an "economical" borehole. Main applications: lifting (raising) water from great depths by use of an economical borehole; efficiency and forcing height are more favourable than those of traditional positive-displacement pumps and those of submerged multi-stage pumps. <IMAGE>
