PURPOSE: To strip a coating precisely without damaging the core by focusing a plurality of laser oscillators disposed above and below a coated wire being held by a support at a predetermined part to a coating thereby evaporating the coating. CONSTITUTION: A work station 13 is set on the front wall 20 forming the housing 11 of a laser type wire removing apparatus 10. A coated wire (not shown) is supported by a wire support 14 at the work station 13. Focusing heads 96, 98 are disposed above and below the wire and laser light is focused to evaporate the coating material which is discharged through a duct 118 on the rear wall 22 of the housing 11. Wavelength of laser is selected at about 10.5μm which is effective to evaporate the coating but reflected on the core. A work station 13 is protected by a removable cover (not shown). According to the method, the coating is stripped precisely. |
