PURPOSE:To provide cocoon filament or raw silk of high quality unobtainable by an artificial diet for providing an automation factory of all-stage rearing and conventional all-stage rearing of domesticated silkworm. CONSTITUTION:This invention is an artificial diet used for germ-free plate feeding and rearing characterized in that a diet raw material consisting essentially of bean-curd refuse powder, mulberry leaf powder and defatted soybean flour and water at a blending ratio of (1:2) to (1:2.5), an artificial method for rearing silkworm according to the germ-free plate feeding and rearing method using the aforementioned artificial diet and cocoon filament or raw silk produced by the aforementioned method for rearing. Industrial rearing of the domesticated silkworm in the all-stage period can be carried out by using the diet of this invention and silk threads of high quality are simultaneously obtained at a low cost.
