This converter comprises: a transformer with two primaries (P1, P2); a voltage source (Vi n) one of the terminals of which is linked to the midpoint; and two switches (T1, T2), mounted in series between the other terminal of the source and one primary, which exhibit a stray capacitance imposing a transition time between opening of one switch and closing of the other. The transformer is produced on a magnetic circuit with a gap.
<??>Each primary includes a number of turns which is defined essentially on the basis of the level of the losses within the magnetic circuit, the dimension of the gap being adjusted, having regard to this number of turns and the working frequency, in such a way as to reduce the magnetisation inductance of the transformer to a value such that the said transition time is less than a given threshold corresponding to the tolerable limit for the form factor.
