Dispenser cathode for an electron tube, comprising an electron emission material (2a), a porous base material (1a) comprising tungsten, a container (4a) for accommodating the porous base material and a sleeve (5a) housing a heating element (6a). The porous base material (1a) contains TiO2 or ZrO2. The dispenser cathode satisfies the high luminance and high definition requirements necessary for a large screen, and the manufacturing time of the cathode is decreased. <IMAGE>
