The machine tool has a spindle head (13) turning on a support about an axis (14) inclined at 45 deg. to that of the spindle (16), so as to bring the latter into two working positions at right angles to each other. Driving components (12a,18,19) engage and disengage, in order to drive the spindle in both these positions from a driving shaft (12) in the support. The head contains two shafts (20,24) at right angles to each other in bearings, permanently coupled together by bevel gears (18,19) one of which is coaxial with the driving shaft in each working position. One shaft (20) is coupled to the spindle.
