<p>PURPOSE:To correctly detect the area where eyes are present even when the density gradation data of an image of the face becomes irregular at the right and left sides of the image because of the external light such as sunlight, etc., by providing an image input means, a binarizing means, an area specifying means, a judging means and a setting means. CONSTITUTION:This detecting apparatus is comprised of an image input means for inputting an image of the face including eyes as the density gradation data, a binarizing means for binarizing the input image of the face, and a specifying means for specifying the area where the eyeballs are present from the binarized image. Moreover, tone apparatus is provided with a judging means for judging whether or not the density of tone input image is not uniform at the right and left sides of the image by a predetermined density level, and a setting means for setting a threshold value for only the area where one eyeball is present when the density of the image is judged to be irregular thereby to specify the position of the eyes from the area where the one eyeball is present.</p> |
