PURPOSE:To protect articles in transit from damages due to shocks of vibrations and permit a safe transportation thereof without causing damages to the packed articles even in case the container should be broken by introducing into a container a low melting point metal which is subjected to the cubical expansion upon solidification and cooling the same for solidification. CONSTITUTION:A method of packing and unpacking articles which comprises using a low melting point metal which is subjected to the cubical expansion upon solidification and melted by slightly heating, the metal containing in an amount of 0.1-10% Ga or at least one element of In, Sn, Pb, Bi, Cd and Zn in addition to Ga and in an amount of 0.1-50% Bi or at least one element of In, Sn, Pb, Cd and Zn in addition to Bi; placing articles 2 in a container 1; introducing the low melting point metal 3 heated to a temp. not below the melting point into a gap between the articles 2 and the container 1 and subsequently cooling the metal 3 to a temp. not above the melting point to solidify the same, whereby the metal 3 between the articles 2 and the container 1 is subjected to the cubical expansion to securely hold the articles against the container 1; and heating the container slightly to melt the low melting point metal 3 therein to permit the packed contents to be freely removed therefrom. |
