PURPOSE: To provide a color display device having a display tube provided with a display window which has a high strength with comparatively light weight. CONSTITUTION: This display device is provided with a cathode-ray tube in which a thickness increases along a major axis and a minor axis from the center of a display window. A thickness along the major axis of the display window is defined as D(x)=D0 +▵(x), and one along its minor axis is defined as D(x)=D0 +▵(y), while▵(y) is larger than 1.5▵(x). Accordingly a formed display window is in combination of a high strength with comparatively light weight. According to one example the thicknesses along the upper part and the lower part of the display window are nearly constant. Consequently, inner breakdown proof is improved in the cathode-ray. This invention is especially important in a large scale tube (>=28 inches) of a cathode-ray tube in which a ratio of width to length is larger than 4:3, for an example 16:9.
