Biotechnological processes in fixed-bed ractors with carrier elements for a growth of micro-organisms usually release a gas e.g. CH4 or CO2. The coagulation and the release of the gases produced can be promoted by mechanical action on the carrier elements. The preferred action is a continuous or intermittent vibratin or a rotary/reciprocating motion of the bed.
