Before reproduction of data, special information is read from a particular part of a record carrier. The reading of the special information is carried out at a higher speed than the reading of the remaining data. This may be achieved by raising the frequency of the system clock. In a CD player, the lead-in track containing information about the number of tracks, and the total playing time etc. is read with the disc rotating at a higher speed than for reading the audio information. USE - For CD, video-, DRAW-, magneto=optical disc players. Esp. useful in multi-disc systems.
