Portable rig for boring-out printing press housing - has hollow spindle feeding into bore over cylinder journal end and driven by portable drill
摘要
The hollow spindle (2,3) of the machining rig rotates and slides in a cylindrical housing (1) with a flange (12) at one end to secure the rig onto the machine frame (8) in alignment with the bearing sleeve bore (9) of the cylinder (10). The journal (11) can protrude into the open end of the rig spindle. A collar (5) towards the rear of the spindle has an outside thread engaging the internal thread (6) in the housing. The rear section of the spindle has gear teeth (16) engaging a pinion (18) on a drive shaft (17) which can be driven by a portable power drill simultaneously to rotate the spindle and feed it into and out of the bore. Projecting from the nose end of the spindle is a toolbit (13) which can be wedged outwards for adjustment by screwing rod (15) forwards in its threaded seating at the rear of the spindle. ADVANTAGE - Simple, low-cost and compact design. Housing can be machined out without removing cylinder. Easy to handle and use.
