Device consists of a centrifugal system by which heavier components are pressed against the inner wall (3) of the bowl (1), and the filtrate is made to flow over its upper edge. The bowl is made of a flexible material (rubber, plastic etc.), and downwards movement of the finger elements (4) causes the wall (3) of the bowl to fold downwards, allowing the de-watered sludge (7) to leave the bowl under the effect of the centrifugal force. In an alternative construction, a rigid bowl is used in which the bowl wall can be raised from time to time, leaving a gap between the wall and floor of the bowl through which the de-watered sludge passes outwards. USE/ADVANTAGE - In de-watering sludges, e.g. sewage sludges, or for polishing cloudy fruit juices, etc. The capital cost of the device is low, it provides a high deg. of dewatering and requires low down-time and loading time.
