PURPOSE:To provide a discharge-tube direct current lighting apparatus high in the power source efficiency and capable of being small-sized, which apparatus is adapted to enable direct-current lighting of a discharge tube such as a fluorescent lamp. CONSTITUTION:The d.c. lighting apparatus for discharge tube comprises a voltage source for applying a d.c. voltage to a discharge tube, a d.c. constant current circuit for detecting an electric current flowing into the discharge tube during a stable discharge therein and for maintaining this electric current to be at a constant level by control thereof, and a discharge-starting time high- voltage application circuit for applying a glow-discharge high voltage to the discharge tube therefor and for stopping the application of the high voltage by detecting that the discharge tube has been brought to a stable discharge condition. |
