Device intended for clarifying liquids such as especially water, fruit juices, musts, such as grape musts, comprising a vessel to which the liquid to be clarified is delivered after a pretreatment operation such as screening, and a flotation tank fed by a transfer pump for liquid which is pressurised and decompressed before it enters the flotation tank, from which the clarified liquid is introduced into a filtration system, this device being characterised in that the flotation tank (10) is placed above the assembly (2, 2a) intended for the pretreatment of the liquid, in order to have available a sufficient pressure head for hydraulic balancing of the various constituents of the device, to enable it to function with a low pressure head available upstream and to permit the optional recycling, using merely gravity, of the floating particles collected at the surface of the flotation tank, to any point whatever of the pretreatment.
