PURPOSE:To always conduct a printing processing with a clean thermal head by a method wherein in a thermal printer, esp. a printer provided with an automatic thermal head cleaning function, a head cleaning processing does not rely on only a periodical or nonperiodical decomposition management processing, but the thermal head is automatically cleaned at least before the start of a flow of a printing processing. CONSTITUTION:A thermal printer comprises a heat-sensitive paper moving means 11 for moving and supplying heat-sensitive paper 16, a thermal head 12 making printing on said heat-sensitive paper 16, a head drive control means 13 controlling the drive of said thermal head 12, a foreign particle removing means 14 for removing foreign particles from said thermal head 12, and a control means 15 controlling the input/output of said heat-sensitive paper moving means 11 and said head drive control means 13. The foreign particle removing means 14 consists of a wet member impregnated with a liquid cleaner or a dry member having a roughened surface. |
