A printing machine has a sheet guiding mechanism wich transfers the printed sheets to a stack formed at the outlet of the machhine. The sheets (14) are gripped by grippers attached to an endless chain and pulled over the upper surface of a perforated guide plate (9) which is mounted above the nozzle plate (10). The nozzle plate is fitted with nozzles (13) which direct jets of air onto the perforated guide plate. The nozzles are so positioned that the jets of air impinge on the guide plates in the areas which are free of perforations. The air subsequently flows through the perforations and supports and sheet so that it is held clear of the guide plate. USE/ADVANTAGE - Sheet guiding system for a printing macine. The air jets eliminate friction between the sheet and the guide plate.
