DRIVING SYSTEM OF DISCHARGE TYPE DISPLAY DEVICE

PURPOSE:To decrease malfunctions and to allow low-voltage driving by increasing the duty ratio of a memory device to attain higher brightness and expanding the memory operation margin in maintenance discharge (memory display). CONSTITUTION:The surface of the display anode 11 in the driving system of the discharge type display device constituted by including an auxiliary anode 10 provided on the inside surface of one of substrates facing each other, a display anode 11, cathode 5 and auxiliary cathode 12 provided on the inside surface of the other substrate facing this substrate, and a display cell 20 which is a discharge space including these electrodes exclusive of the auxiliary cathode 12 is constituted by coating with a dielectric material 6 and the maintenance discharge is executed by impressing non-writing pulses to the auxiliary anode 10 and negative pulses to the cathode 5 so as to alternately change the polarities of the wall charges of the display anode 11 coated with the dielectric material 6 in the maintenance discharge.
