PURPOSE:To obtain a thermal recording material excellent in thermal response and having high color forming sensitivity by adding a specific compound to a thermal recording material containing a usually colorless or light-colored dye precursor and an electron acceptive compound reacting with the dye precursor at the time of heating to develop a color. CONSTITUTION:A usually colorless or light-colored dye precursor and an electron acceptive compound reacting with the dye precursor at the time of heating to develop a color are used as main components and a compound represented by formula (wherein n is an integer of 1 or 2 and R is a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, a 5C or less lower alkyl group or a lower alkoxy group and may be same or difference when n is 2) is compounded with said components and the resulting composition is dispersed in a binder to prepare a coating solution. This coating solution is applied to a support to provide a thermal recording layer to obtain a thermal recording material. This thermal recording material is heated by a thermal head to obtain a recording image with high optical density. |
