PURPOSE:To allow high-speed communication and to obtain received images having high image quality. CONSTITUTION:The received binary image signals are converted to many-valued image signals by a binary value/many value converter 12. The many-valued image signals are modulated according to the unequalness characteristics of the recording element of a head 9 by an unequalness correcting modulator 14. A head driving circuit 16 drives a head in accordance with the modulated image signals, by which the high-quality images subjected to the correction of the unequalness are recorded at a high speed.
