<p>PURPOSE:To present the remote manipulator having high operability concerning the remote manipulator to be used for a television receiver or the like. CONSTITUTION:Plural light receiving elements 4 provided at a manipulation part receive light from a light source 1 provided on the side of a device to be controlled, and a received light intensity detector 6 successively detects and measures the light while switching this received optical signal by a switching circuit 5. Then, a judging means 7 detects the direction of the manipulation part to the light source 1 according to which light receiving element 4 receives the light most strongly. A data corresponding to this direction is converted to a remote control code by a remote control code generating means 8 and transmitted to the side of the device to be controlled as an optical signal, and this signal is judged on the side of the device to be controlled. Then, a cursor is displayed on a television screen in a direction where the manipulation part is directed, and by pushing a selection switch in the state of matching the cursor to an objective function on the menu of the television screen, the function is executed. Therefore, remote manipulation is enabled while observing the screen without observing the manipulation part on the side of an operator.</p> |
