An improved apparatus for the continuous cold sterilisation of a fluid, comprising at least one source of ultraviolet radiation 1 and at least one conduit 2 transparent to such radiation, placed in proximity to the source, and in which the fluid being sterilised 3 travels. The conduit has a portion 2a which develops helicoidally around the source 1 and there are also provided reflecting means 4 wrapped around the shell of the conduit 2a, as well as sensor means 5 detecting the intensity of ultraviolet radiation filtering through the conduit 2a and the fluid 3 and connected to a control unit 6. The radiation emitted by the source 1 is utilised completely thanks to the shape of the conduit 2a and the presence of the reflective screening 4. In event of trouble such as extinguishing of the source 1, presence of deposits on the surface of the conduit 2, or excessively turbidity of the fluid 3, the sensor 5 tells the control unit 6 to interrupt the flow of fluid being sterilised through an electric valve 7, sending the apparatus for a check-up in an emergency. <IMAGE> |
