DEVICE AND METHOD FOR DETECTING POSITIONAL DEVIATION

PURPOSE:To detect that a probe is deviated from a track caused by the waviness of the track of a recording medium and the vibration at the time of recording and reproducing. CONSTITUTION:The probe 1 is stationarily vibrated with smaller amplitude than the width of a data series 4 at the frequency of (f) in a direction orthogonally crossed with the data series 4. In such a case, the amplitude of the reproducing signal of the data series is changed in accordance with the deviation of the probe 1 from the data series 4. By performing the phase- detection of the envelope signal of the signal by taking the vibration waveform (reference signal) of the probe 1 of the frequency f0 as a reference signal, a signal in proportion to the deviation from the data series is obtained. Such feedback control that the probe 1 is kept on the data series is performed by using the signal.
