PURPOSE:To facilitate production of a miniature plate and to effect production thereof in a short time, in printing of an abstract pattern building material. CONSTITUTION:Picture data of a unit raw material is first read by means of an input scanner 1 and secondly, the read picture data of the unit raw material is vertically and laterally arranged, and watermark synthesis is made on the patterns of the adjoining unit raw materials. In a pattern on which watermark synthesis is applied, trimming is effected at P1-P4 so that picture data at an upper end is made same as that at a lower end and picture data at left and right ends are made same as each other to produce picture data having an endless pattern. Picture data of an endless pattern are vertically and laterally arranged in a manner to leave no space therebetween to produce picture data of a miniature plate used for executing proof print.
