摘要 PURPOSE:To reduce the inductance of a discharge tube so as to obtain a highly efficient laser device by limiting the coaxial conductor used as a current returning path to an inner conductor, especially, to that having the minimum diameter when a plurality of coaxial current returning paths are formed in a metallic vapor laser device provided with such a discharge tube that its discharging section and current returning path are formed coaxially. CONSTITUTION:This metallic vapor laser device is constituted of a discharge tube 1 provided with electrodes 2 and 3 at both ends, heat insulating structure composed of an insulating material 7 put around the tube 1 and vacuum heat insulating layer 10, cooling container 11 which is provided around the heat insulating structure and also works as a current returning path, and pulse power source 5 for discharge and the electrode 2 is electrically connected with one end of the container 11, with the other electrode 3 being connected with the power source 5 together with the other end of the container 11. Since the container 11 has a double-tube structure for water cooling, two current returning paths can be formed in the container 11, but part of the outside conductor 11b is constituted of an insulating material 13. Therefore, a high-efficiency laser device can be obtained by reducing the inductance of the discharge tube by limiting the current returning path of the discharge tube to the conductor having the smallest diameter.
