PURPOSE: To obtain information related to the contour of a face by the scanner by three-dimensionally observing a formed image by an attained large numerical aperture. CONSTITUTION: The scanner includes an optical system for forming an image of a part of a face 10 to be scanned on detection systems 22 to 25. The optical system has an object system 43 and includes also two cylindrical lenses 41, 42 and/or two cylindrical mirrors. Since the object system 43 is functioned as an image forming lens in the optical magnification direction of the lenses 41, 42, the luminance intensity and spatial image of the face 10 is formed on the detection systems 22 to 25.
