PURPOSE: To provide a method for treating permanent wave by which a subjective judgment of an operator is omitted when judging the condition for treating the permanent wave, and the reduction treatment is objectively controlled by the change of a formulating material and further to obtain a kit for performing the method. CONSTITUTION: This method for applying permanent wave in a constant period and temperature condition by changing a concentration, pH and activity of a reducing agent according to a hair state comprises a step of housing plural kinds of stock mixtures of the reducing agents in each vessel for holding different amounts of the mixtures, a step of settling plural suits of standard for mixing the stock mixture, a step of determining hair to select one suit of the standard from the plural suits of the standards, a step of mixing the stock mixture to form the permanent wave composition according to the standard and a step of applying the permanent wave composition to the hair at a temperature of 30±1 deg.C for 18±5min.
