Polyanionic cpds. (I) can be used in the prepn. of medicaments for the therapy and prophylaxis of diseases caused by Myxo- and paramyxo- viruses. USE/ADVANTAGE - (I) can be used in the treatment of diseases caused by myxo- and paramyxo- viruses. The ED50 of (I) for antiviral activity is smaller than the ED50 for coagulation inhibiting activity, typically the ratio of the values is 1:10. (I) are effective against the following viruses: influenza virus of type A, B, C and D; measels virus; mumps virus; respiratory syncytial virus; parainfluenza virus type 1-7; Newcastle disease virus; cattle and swine pest virus, dog distemper virus
