The container consists of brittle plastics, is fitted with a charge, and is enclosed by a protective cage which is several times the area of the container and folds flat onto it when not used. The cage comprises at least partly, a grid made up of individual stiff panels (3, 4) movably joined to segments (5). Pref. the panels and segments are hinged etc. together to give panels, possibly curved over a large surface. USE/ADVANTAGE - Explosion barriers in mine roadways etc., with release prevention of fragment above a certain size.
