PURPOSE:To obtain a hard contact lens having superior light controlling characteristic by mixing a specified monomer compsn. with a specified photo-chromic agent, polymerizing and hardening the mixture and polishing the hardened body. CONSTITUTION:A compsn. consisting of 30-80 pts.wt. methyl methacrylate, 2-30 pts. wt. bifunctional (meth)acrylate and 1-50 pts.wt. (meth)-acrylic monomer copolymerizable with the (meth)acrylate is mixed with a photochromic agent having such light controlling characteristic as to enable rapid coloring under light and to rapidly vanish the color when the light is shielded. The bifunctional (meth)acrylate is a compd. contg. two radical polymerizable (meth)acryl groups in one molecule, acts as a cross-linking agent and improves the polish-ability of a hard contact lens. Ethylene glycol di(meth)acrylate or propylene glycol di(meth)acrylate may be used as the bifunctional (meth)acrylate. |
