Variable section wing for hang-glider - has two separate lift surfaces for high and low speed flight
摘要
The cross-section of the wing has two lift areas i.e. (70 and (5). The first area (1) is fixed to the various structural tubes (2,3) and a keel member. The second area (5) forms a secondary lift surface which is adjustable to the flight stage. For slow flight eg landing or take off the surface would be pulled through cables to a position near a line (6) thus increasing effective wing area. At high speeds this surface would not be necessary and is therefore released so as to trail behind the wind. USE/ADVANAGE - Wing for long-glider has secondary lift area which is allowed to trail freshly at high speed, to reduce drag and unnecessary lift.
