The clamping member slides in a fixed bracket (6) and is driven by a commercially available screw (4) with a socket head (3). The output shaft of an air motor (1) clamped in the bracket has a hexagonal section which fits into the socket head of the screw and transmits the driving torque. Because the screw drive is self sustaining a failure of air supply does not result in loss of clamping.
