A rotary printing machine for printing individual sheets, has a sheet gripper which is mounted on a shaft (1). The gripper has a finger (1) with a claw (4) which is attached to the finger by a leaf spring (3) and a bolt (9). The claw is guided by a second bolt (6) which passes through a clearance hole (7) in the finger. The leaf spring (3) presses the claw (4) against the sheet support surface (14). The clearance hole (7) allows relative movement between the claw and the second bolt so that the claw can align itself with the sheet support surface (14).
