PURPOSE:To allow the easy change of the weighting of focusing signals of every scanning line at need by occasionally storing the focusing signals from a focusing signal generating means in a memory and detecting the focusing position of a subject in the region set by a focusing detection region setting means in accordance with the stored focusing signals. CONSTITUTION:A camera 11 picks up the image of the subject through an image pickup lens and outputs a video signal. This video signal is inputted via a buffer 12 to the focusing detection region setting means 1 an the focusing signal generating means 2. The focusing signal generating means 2 generates the focusing signal when the video signal of the subject is inputted. A CPU 32 occasionally stores this focusing signal into the memory. The CPU 32 further detects the focusing position of the subject in the region set by the focusing detection region setting means 1 in accordance with the stored focusing signal. The easy change of the weighting of the focusing signal at every scanning line at need is possible in this way. |
