A coffee grinder is driven through a bevel gear drive (5) and a gear train (6) which includes a gear wheel (11). The gear wheel (11) is mounted on one end of a shaft (12) which is supported in bearings mounted on the arms of a chair. The other end of the shaft carries a pulley which is driven by a belt (15) from a second pulley (15). The second pulley (15) is mounted on the treadle shaft which is actuated by pedals (8). The pedals are positioned so that they can be operated by a person sitting in the chair. USE/ADVANTAGE - Coffee grinder operated by a person in a sitting position.
