Data transmission system with optical fibre(s) - connects both ends of fibres fitted in separate plug housing to electro-optical transducer

In the data transmission system, both ends of the optical fibre(s) (1a,b) are each inserted in separate plug housing (2,3), each with an electro-optical transducer (2a,b;3a,b) for the fibre connection. From each plug housing electric contacts (4a-c;5a-c) of the transducer are brought out. Pref. the optical fibre is formed by a glass fibre line typically of a monomode, gradient, or step index type. An additional metal line (1c,d) of copper or silver may be used in parallel with the optical fibres. Typically all optical fibres and metal lines are inserted at one end into a common plug housing (2), and/or at their other ends into a second common plug housing (3). ADVANTAGE - Improved protection against impurities. High data transmission rate.
