The load space cover consists of a tarpaulin or foil cover element (2), stiffened with transverse strips. The strips are supported at each end by guide rails fastened to the side walls of the load space. At least one cable or string tensioner (20, 21) is provided, which by at least one spring (38, 39) pulls evenly on the cover element, when it is pulled out from folded into cover position. Pref. the springs are of torsional type. USE/ADVANTAGE - For car and lorry load spaces, with a facility for single hand handling.
