PURPOSE:To perform destaticization with proper electric field and to always obtain a stable good-quality fixed image by measuring the electrostatic charging potential of a recording medium and controlling a destaticizing efficiency by a control means. CONSTITUTION:After a toner image 101 is transferred to a recording medium 100, the medium 100 is carried to a fixing and carrying mechanism 112 constituted by spanning a conductive belt 111 between carrying rollers 109 and 110 which are electrically connected to a ground level. When an optical sensor 108 detects a state where the medium 100 comes, the signal of the sensor is inputted in a destaticization controller 103 and the inspection of the surface potential of the medium 100 is started by a surface potential sensor 102. Information obtained by the sensor 102 is inputted in the controller 103 in the same way and the controller 103 decides the optimum destaticizing voltage(current) corresponding to the surface potential to give the signal to a corona power source 104. Based on the information, the voltage and the current impressed on the corona wire 106 of a corona destaticizer 105 are changed by the power source 104, and the destaticizing electric field of the destaticizer 105 is varied. |
