Medical ultrasonic tissue removal instrument - uses electrical oscillator to set ultrasonic vibrator in motion at end of rod with coaxial suction channel

The ultrasonic vibrator (11), driven by an electrical oscillator (12), is installed at the rear end of a metal vibration transferring rod (13) tapering towards the front so that the vibration at the tip has a large amplitude. A coaxial suction channel (15) inside the rod opens out at the tip (14) and can be connected to a suction hose (16) at the rear. A rinsing fluid supply channel (17) also leads to the tip and can be connected to a supply hose (18) at a position remote from the tip. This supply channel is axially arranged in the rod and suction channel by means of an axially installed tube (19) of small o.d. than the supply channel dia. USE/ADVANTAGE - Removing pathelogical, biological tissue, e.g. brain tumour, while protecting blood vessels and nerves selectively in narrow area. Prevents unintentional penetration in tissue to be treated.
