Hydrodynamic mechanical transmission for vehicle - uses interaction of pump and turbine to give improved braking

The hydrodynamic-mechanical transmission is for a vehicle. It has a first planetary drive (2) to divide the power input between a branch with a hydridynamic converter (3) and a purely mechanical branch coupled to the output shaft (5). In the traction mode of the converter a turbine wheel (9) rotates counter to a pump wheel (6) which in the axial direction has a displaceable blading section (6a). USE/ADVANTAGE - Transmissions with an integral torque converter which in the braking mode has higher braking moments.
