PURPOSE:To provide the inexpensive and efficient device equipped with a single mode optical fiber for conducting a laser beam from a laser beam source, with an optical system for collimating the radiated laser beam, and with an optical system having a concave-like reflecting surface for reflecting the laser beam. CONSTITUTION:In a cell fusion device having a laser beam source 1 for holding cells 10, 11 at specific positions by a light trapping method using a laser beam 14, a laser beam transfer means for transferring the held cells 10, 11 for their mutual contact, and a high voltage pulse-generating means 12 for fusing the contacted cells 10, 11 there are installed a single mode optical fiber 4 for conducting the laser bean from a laser bean source 1, the first optical system for collimating the radiated laser beam, and the second optical system 6 having a rod-like shape with approximately the same diameter as that of the first optical system and having a concave-like reflective surface at the tip. The laser beam 14 collimated with the first optical system 5 is reflected and subsequently collimated to irradiate the cells 10, 11 for the fusion of the cells.
