PURPOSE:To increase discharge capacity by doping specified Li into a negative electrode made of carbon material and restricting the capacity of positive and negative electrodes so that the potential of the negative electrode can be within 0V-1V to Li during charge and discharge. CONSTITUTION:Li equivalent to the capacity of a portion up to about 1V to Li at initial dipping potential is previously doped into a negative electrode 1 made of carbon material, so that the potential of the negative electrode 1 can be within 0V-1V to Li during charge and discharge. The method of doping Li into carbon material is preferably to put carbon material in contact with Li metal in assembling a battery, fill electrolyte therein and dope Li. It is thus possible to increase the discharge capacity of practical portions.
