PURPOSE:To enable satisfactory recording and reproduction of information even when dust sticks to the surface of a substrate or the surface flaws by forming a rim-shaped part around each recessed part of a rugged preformat and regulating the thickness of a recording layer on the top of the rim-shaped part to <=1/2 of that of the recording layer at the recording part. CONSTITUTION:A rim-shaped part 8 is formed around each recessed part 9 of a rugged preformat and the thickness of a recording layer 3 on the top of the part 8 is regulated to <=1/2 of that of the recording layer 3 at the recording part 13. Light reflected by the layer 3 at the part 8 is sufficiently reduced by the synergism of the light scattering effect of the part 8 and a reflectance lowering effect due to the reduced thickness and the crossing contrast of laser light for recording, reproduction and tracking is made sufficiently high in the preformat with the recessed parts 9 as tracking tracks 11. An optical information recording medium enabling satisfactory recording and reproduction of information even when dust sticks to the surface of the substrate or the surface flaws can be obtd. The recording layer 3 of this medium contains coloring matter applied with a solvent. |
