LINEAR HOT CATHODE AND MANUFACTURE THEREOF

PURPOSE:To restrict chord vibration by heat shrinkage at the time of heating a linear hot cathode by providing a low rigidity zone and a high rigidity zone relatively along the length. CONSTITUTION:For a heater line comprising a straight line of a first metal core 5 and a second metal line 6 spirally connected around it, a high rigidity zone 16 and a low rigidity zone 19 are provided relatively along the length, and an oxide cathode is applied to the high rigidity zone 16. A heat shrinkage by heating a hot cathode or a chord vibration by a mechanical impact can therefore be restricted to a vibration along the length only. Fluctuation by time for a distance between the linear hot cathode and an electron beam pulling electrode 15 can thus be eliminated, thereby a problem of brightness fluctuation can be dissolved.
