PURPOSE:To obtain a positive electrode active material having flat and high voltage discharge characteristic and excellent in charge/discharge cycle characteristic by removing H2O from V2O5.nH2O having a layered structure. CONSTITUTION:H2O is removed from a V2O5.nH2O having a layered structure to manufacture an active material. For example, crystalline V2O5 is subjected to liquid super-quenching to form amorphous V2O5. This is precisely weighed and dissolved in distilled water to prepare V2O5.nH2O aqueous solution. As H2O is only removed from V2O5.nH2O, the process is simple, the active material can be uniformed, and thermal stability is also improved. Thus, a battery using this as the positive electrode active material not only obtains flat and high voltage discharge characteristic but also is extremely improved in charge/ discharge cycle characteristics. |
