A carrier for containers such as bottles or the like made from a flat blank is provided. The blank is formed into a generally tubular carrier having likeshaped retainer sleeves which telescope within the ends thereof. Spaced parallel top and bottom walls have inline apertures contained therein for receiving the tapered neck of a container. A locking means is provided so that when the retainer sleeves may be secured in the open ends of the carrier sleeve when in the container gripping mode. The locking means takes the form of articulatable tabs contained in the side walls of the carrier and retainer sleeves which register with each other so as to provide the locking function.
