PURPOSE:To eliminate an extra space between elements and to form a compact, thin optical head having high transmitting efficiency by forming optical elements constituting the optical head as a unitary body. CONSTITUTION:A light emitting element 9 is formed within a surface 10a of a beam splitter 10. A half-mirror surface 10b is further formed in the beam splitter 10. A part of the light emitted from the light emitting element 9 is directed toward an objective lens 11. The reflected light from an information recording medium 12 which is cast through the objective lens 13 is guided into a photodetector 13 which is formed in a surface 10c of the beam splitter 10. When the optical elements are formed as a unitary body in this way, the extra space between the elements is eliminated, and the optical head can be made compact and thin to a large extent. The loss in amount of the light which occurs when the light is emitted and received to and from the optical elements is not generated, and the transmission efficiency can be made excellent. |
