The method for producing an antigen is characterized by infecting a cytomegalovirus (CMV) into a host cell cultured in a growing medium, collecting a floated liquor and then refilling the medium, antiactivating and centrifugal-separating the collected cultured liquor to obtain a supernatant, concentrating and ultracentrifugal-separating the supernatant to obtain a precipitate, floating the precipitate into a buffer soln, reseparating it to obtain the precipatate, and floating it. The anti-CMV antibody can be detected by the indirect enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay.
