PURPOSE:To improve the bending strength of an optical fiber by forming a clad layer having a refractive index of 1.29-1.36 and covering the outer layer of the clad layer with a cross-linking polymerization body having a Shore hardness of D 50 or more. CONSTITUTION:A perform for constituting a core member is drawn into a fiber by the ordinary method, is and a clad layer is formed on the outer layer of the core fiber. As the forming method for the clad layer, a melt coating method of covering with the clad polymerization body which is molten in an extruder or a solvent coating method of forming the clad layer by dissolving the clad polymerization body into a solvent and applying the solution onto a core fiber. Then, the cross-linking polymerization body or the solution containing the cross-linking polymerization body is applied on the outer layer, and then irradiated with ultraviolet rays. |
