[Also in Division E2] A bollard for securing a rope has a rope engaging surface provided with undulations with the pitch of the undulating surface being greater at one part of the surface than a pitch at another part of the surface. In Fig. 1, the bollard has two said surfaces the surfaces forming opposite sides of a groove and the undulations being arranged so that the crests 8 of those of one surface are opposite the troughs 9 of those of the other surface and the width of the groove at its bottom being less than at the top. In other constructions (not shown) a substantially straight groove which tapers from top to bottom and with each side having a said undulating surface is provided. |
